Rancho Fino Animals
Unfortunately there is a big amount of neglected, badly treated, abandoned and abused animals on the island. We are still blown away by the numbers of cases we have to deal with every single day. Our mission is to rescue, recover, rehabilitate, and reestablish natural behaviour as far as possible (fitting to the species) and find the perfect way of living for their future depending on what they individually need. We want all our rescue animals to live in a safe and protected environment, where they are happy, comfortable and all their needs are being met.
We work clock round to allow them to “simply” be animals again and practice natural behaviour and work very hard to concur fear, aggression, rehabilitation and socialisation with lots and lots of patience. Nobody is in a rush. Nobody has to go faster than he can. They decide the tempo.
We stand up and hold space for peace, cleanliness and routine.
Providing a safe environment based on trust, where their needs are met, without pressure or unnecessary stress. Where we, their trusted persons are holding space for those who need it most.
We daily deal with very large amounts of requests and a big waiting-list. A continuous flow of new cases arriving and unfortunately we also deal with lots of ongoing loss as well, because of the special needs and end of life care we give to so many.
Our main group of animals stays with us as sanctuary residents. Mostly old, sick, handicapped and/ or in need of round-the-clock special care and expertise due to their physical and/or mental health.
We are a safe homebase for animals that have nowhere else to go. As said before, the special needs. The old, sick, physically and/or mentally challenged. Animals that other people would rather not touch. Exactly those.
We have a kennel-free set up for the dogs. We work with a stable core-pack of dogs and build it out from there. In this way we can achieve the best results when it comes to recovery, (re)socialisation and rehabilitation.
The horses live in different groups and herd depending on the level of care and where they are in their process. A big horse-forest where the older and more calm horses live, a herd for the handicapped and a herd for the youngsters that need some more action, play and training.
We have animals of all species, also farm animals that are all living in groups or couples of the same species.
